Members:
Fredericton Trap and Skeet Club is trying something new in 2008! We are introducing a Novice program - a foreseen needed investment with the younger generations to promote continued interest in shotgun sports. Our program will provide exposure to the organization of our club and a shoot program that includes instruction and mentoring.
For the purpose of the 2008
program, Novice is defined as any individual less than 19 years of age or any
student less then 25. All novices must be members
of FTSC and will be issued membership cards clearly identifying them as
belonging to this category.
All
targets will be offered to a Novice at 50% of regular member rates for all of
2008. As such, 25 targets (1 round) will
cost $2.50, while our shoot cards (10 rounds) will also be available at a cost of
$20, and will apply to trap, skeet and sporting clays.
Ammo
will be offered to a Novice at club rates, minus $3.00 per box, up to a maximum
of 25 boxes. All Novices will be given the option to
purchase the ammo up front (currently $3.00, but this may change), or opt for
an ammo card, and pay as you go. After a Novice has used this allotment, ammo will
continue to be offered, but at normal club cost; however, nothing prevents the
shooter from supplying his own ammo.
Starting
April 5, and again on May 3, and for the subsequent three Saturdays each month,
specific training sessions will be held at the club in order to provide an
opportunity to the Novice participants to be intoduced
to skeet, trap and sporting clays, as follows:
April
5: Introduction to FTSC, safety, shotgun techniques, skeet
April
12: Safety, shotgun techniques, trap
April
19: Safety, shotgun techniques, sporting clays
May
3: Intro to FTSC, safety, shotgun techniques, skeet,
May
10: Safety, shotgun techniques, trap
May
17: Safety, shotgun techniques, sporting clays
And
for the remainder of year, Novices will be encouraged to engage in regular club
shooting. Club members will act as mentors. Special clinics may be organized if
the need arises. And for all organized tournaments at FTSC in 2008, entry fees
for a Novice will be 50% of the regular entry.
I
would like to know your interest in this Novice initiative as soon as possible.
April will fast approach and we want to be fully prepared to roll out the
program properly. If you are interested or you have questions, please contact
me by phone (450-3215), by email (clarkia@nbnet.nb.ca),
or at the address above.
Sincerely,
George
