FREDERICTON TRAP & SKEET CLUB

NOVICE PROGRAM:                                                             March 24, 2008

Participants:

Fredericton Trap and Skeet club, co-sponsored by the Fredericton Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society, is pleased to confirm the launch of our 2008 Novice Program! This is a foreseen needed investment with the younger generations to promote continued interest in recreational shotgun sports. Our program will provide exposure to the organization of our club and a shoot program that includes instruction and mentoring.

Novice is defined as any individual less than 19 years of age, or any student less then 25. All novices must be a member of FTSC and have been, or will be, issued a membership card clearly identifying them as belonging to this category.

All targets will be offered to a Novice at 50% of regular member rates for all of 2008.  As such, 25 targets (1 round) will cost $2.50, while our shoot cards (10 rounds) will also be available at a cost of $20, and these prices will apply to trap, skeet and sporting clays.

Ammo will be offered to a Novice at club rates, minus $3.00 per box, up to a maximum of 25 boxes. All Novices will be given the option to purchase the ammo up front (currently $3.00 per box, but prices may change), or pay as you go. After a Novice has consumed this amount, ammo will continue to be offered, but, at normal club cost; however, nothing prevents the participant from supplying his/her own ammo.

Starting April 5, and on the subsequent two Saturdays, specific training sessions will be held at the club from 10:00AM until noon. Following these morning sessions, further guidance will be available, and, although optional, each participant is encouraged to bring a lunch and stay a while longer (up to 2:00PM) in order to continue practicing their shooting skills development.

The program is focused on skeet, trap and sporting clays, as follows:

April 5:   10:00AM: Introduction to FTSC, safety, shotgun techniques, skeet

April 12: 10:00AM: Safety, shotgun techniques, trap

April 19: 10:00AM: Safety, shotgun techniques, sporting clays

And for the remainder of year, Novices are encouraged to engage in regular club shooting. Club members will act as mentors. Special clinics may be organized if the need arises. And for all organized tournaments at FTSC in 2008, entry fees for a Novice will be 50% of the regular entry.

If you have questions, please contact me by phone (450-3215), by internet (clarkia@nbnet.nb.ca), or at my address. Otherwise, I expect to see you on April 5. The Ruffed Grouse Society will be represented that day to announce further details of their sponsorship.

Sincerely

Program Chair
